The world of fashions and fashionables are always after the
notion to develop and exhibit something unique and uncommon
in their personality. This is how, the concept of coloring
of hair has perhaps initiated. We see more and more tints on
the hair of different people. Basically we should very well
understand that hair colors are nothing but chemical based
dyes only. Hair coloring products are usually categorized in
four different classes: temporary, semi-permanent, deposit
or only demo and permanent.
All the hair color products except temporary color propose
the trial patch test before thorough application for
ascertaining the allergic reactions to the intended product.
Most of the hair colors are chemical processes like hair
lightening or bleaching or decolorizing and involve
diffusion of the natural or synthetic color pigment from the
hair. All the permanent hair color products and lighteners
contain the developer or oxidizing agent and the alkalizing
ingredient as the components of their ammonia or the ammonia
alternative. The purpose of which is to raise cuticle of the
hair fiber to penetrate the tint; ease the creation of the
tints within the hair fiber and bring out the lightening
action of peroxide.
When the tint which contains the alkalizing ingredient is
mixed with the developer – generally hydrogen peroxide, the
peroxide becomes alkaline and diffuses through hair fiber
entering the cortex where the melanin is located. When the
alkaline peroxide breaks apart from the melanin and
substitutes it with the new color, the lightening takes
place.
Reactions symptoms: Many users have reported hair loss,
burning sensation, redness and irritation from their hair
dyes or hair colors. Other symptoms may include itching,
swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, dandruff, scaly
scalp skin, pain, sneezing, nausea while applying the dye,
severe swelling around eyes, and scaly skin on ears, face or
neck.
