Lint is believed to be just tiny bits of fiber from the
fabrics, plants, paper etc. Characteristically, these fibers
are found clustered or bunched together in the clothes dryer
or may be even in the belly button – the navel. Lint could
be found floating around in the air and just does not end up
in the navel paradise.
Lint is supposed to be one of the rarest allergens causing
allergic reactions to some people. Lint fiber is not that
troublesome as that of the asbestos fiber. Lint fiber does
cause alergic reaction but not that serious. Lint allergens
are substances that are normally found in the dust and may
include: fabric fibers, feathers, stuffing materials, animal
protein like dander – saliva – urine – body oils, bacteria,
mold and fungus spores, food particles, plants, insects and
their waste.
Proper and thorough washing of all the fabrics may it be
upholstery or things like carpets that have lint may avoid
allergic reactions. Regularly vacuum cleaned homes keep away
the lint and thus alergic reactions could easily be averted.
The lint could easily be air-borne and find its way to the
lungs through our nose by way of inhalation, where they
settle down causing respiratory tract disorders which lead
to severe allergic reactions like asthma in some cases.
Any type of alergic reaction requires clinical care by the
qualified doctor or other healthcare professional. The
person is recommended taking antihistamine medications in
case of mild allergic reaction symptoms. In case of serious
symptoms, the doctors suggest undergoing immunotherapy also.
