The term Allergy is most widely heard across the globe for
the past several centuries. Most of the people have
experienced allergic reactions in their lives. Allergy to
any substance is possible and usually defer from person to
person based on his individual immune system of the body.
There are various types of alergic reactions, some of which
are very commonly found whereas some specific allergic
reactions are really considered rare. The common types of
allergies include: Pollen, dust mites, food, mold, pet
dander, aspirin or antibiotics, metals, latex, rhinitis and
so on. A few of them are defined hereunder:
Pollen: Pollens are microscopic round or oval grains used
for reproducing plants. They are carried by the wind or
insect and made air-borne landing in the eyes, nose, lungs
and skin causing the allergic reactions.
Dust Mites: These too are microscopic organisms living in
the dust in most homes or buildings. They are common cause
of perennial alergic rhinitis, like pollen allergy and can
cause symptoms like asthma.
Mold: There are thousand types of molds, when inhaled they
may cause allergic rhinitis, by reaching to the lungs
through inhalation.
Pet Dander: The protein present in the animal dander is the
allergens causing reactions.
Food: The food allergy is the immunologic response to the
food protein.
Aspirin and Antibiotics: There are people who are alergic to
drugs like aspirin and antibiotics of various types.
Latex: Airborne latex particles that adhere to the corn
starch which is used for powdering the gloves are the
significant cause of respiratory symptoms as well as the
source of sensitization.
